Start Uniface Servers from the Uniface Router Monitor

If you are a privileged user, you can start one or more Uniface Servers from the Router Monitor.

  1. Choose Servers >Start. The Start servers form is displayed.
  2. Specify the servers to start.

    Options for Starting Servers
    Field Description
Number of servers to start Number of server instances to start; the default is 1. Be aware that the Uniface Router will not exceed its $MAXSERVERS limit.
Connection Select the network connection to use. The default value is the first TCP item in URouter Monitor connections list.
User User name under which the servers will run.

On Microsoft Windows NT, do not specify a domain name in the user parameter; the user name is validated against trusted domain servers.

    Password Password for this user.

The user and password must be a valid combination on the Uniface Router’s host machine.

UST Uniface Server Type to be used for the started servers

If you do not enter a UST, the default UST definition will be used, if one exists.

Command line switches Add optional switches for the started servers. Observe the following restrictions for the command line switches that you enter:
    • If the switches you enter conflict with the switches specified in the UST’s definition in the Uniface Router’s assignment file, the values in the assignment file take precedence.
    • You may not specify the UST using the /ust switch.
    • If the UST you enter matches a specific or a default UST definition, you may not use the /dir and /asn switches. Otherwise, these switches and the switches /dnp, /ex, /shr , /su, /nosu, /pri and /drv may be used.
    • If you specify the /dnp switch specify the server, it overrides the value specified in the Connection field.
    • You may not use the /max, /maxidle, /maxreq and /altnet switches.
    • The /drv switch determines the type of server to be started, for example, ORA for an Oracle database server, FIL for a file server, or S3C for a Uniface Virtual Machine server. If the /drv switch is not specified, it defaults to the ANY server. For a database server, you may not specify the database user name and password; they will be determined by the first client request assigned to the server.
